The Guardian - 5/5
This terrifying game is a passionate homage to a horror classic, and a rich, well-designed stealth experience in its own right. Giger's monstrous alien is, for the first time in a video game, as formidable and menacing as it was in the films.
PCGamer - 9,3
It's ridiculous that it took the developers of a historical RTS to finally create an authentic Alien game, but The Creative Assembly have managed it.
Videogamer - 9
These are minor quibbles however, in the face of an Alien game that asks you to think, rather than fight, one that recognises that the haunted house itself is as scary as what's in it.
GamesTM - 9
Ultimately, Creative Assembly has delivered on its promise of an unforgiving thriller that refuses to pull its punches. Isolation reaffirms the Alien as the ultimate horror icon, both terrifying and awesome; trapping you within its cage proves to be the shot in the arm the franchise needed.
Total Xbox - 9
Unique stealth-horror thriller that combines great pacing and smart design with razor-sharp AI that's unpredictable in all the right ways. It's an arduous undertaking, but it begs to be experienced.
Destructoid - 8,5
Isolation has some flaws, but it's faithful to the film series, and I'd love to see a follow-up with a few extra alien evolutions.
Eurogamer - 8
A shorter, sharper campaign would condense the high points more potently, and some better characterisation would make the plot twists hit harder. But if you're looking for a game that really sinks its teeth into what makes this iconic movie monster endure, look no further.
CVG - 8
Before there were dozens of Aliens games... Now, there's precisely one Alien game.
Shack News - 8
Alien Isolation is for people who can withstand a heightened emotional state for a prolonged period of time. Patience, observation, and fast action are paramount.
GameInformer - 7,75
When the gameplay is at its best, however, Isolation delivers the thrill of being in the Alien universe, something fans like me have waited a long time to properly experience.
Polygon - 6,5
In the process of contriving story twists and turns to support this spectacle, Alien: Isolation ruins the unique focus of its premise and moves away from the inspiration of the first film.
IGN - 5,9
Alien: Isolation erases the memory of Colonial Marines, but it's still not the great Alien game we were hoping for.
