Bei den diesjährigen Game Developers Choice Awards gab es einen großen Gewinner: "Portal 2" heimste für Entwickler Valve gleich drei Trophäen für die beste Story, das beste Game-Design und den besten Ton ein. Die begehrte Auszeichnung "Game Of The Year" konnten jedoch die Bethesda Game Studios mit "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" für sich beanspruchen.
Nintendo ging trotz zwei Nominierungen ("The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword" in der Kategorie "Best Game Design" und "Super Mario 3D Land" in der Kategorie "Best Handheld/Mobile Game") leer aus. Geehrt für sein Lebenswerk wurde während der Preisverleihung übrigens der langjährige Game-Designer Warren Spector, der zur Zeit an dem Nachfolger von "Epic Mickey" arbeitet.
