Zeit wirds.

Koichi Sugiyama: "Dragon Quest X soll 2012 erscheinen"

Nier Producer Is The Producer Of Dragon Quest X

Yosuke Saito known for his work on Drakengard and more recently Nier is in charge of Dragon Quest X: Awakening of the Five Tribes. At the Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary press conference, Saito was announced as the producer of Dragon Quest X.

The game will have a job system and allow players to change occupations. One of the jobs briefly shown was alchemist.

While Dragon Quest X is an online game Saito stresses players will be able to enjoy playing it solo.

Dragon Quest X Still Has Turn Based Battles, Sewing Is New

A demo of the battle system was shown and Dragon Quest X, like the other core games, has turn based combat. After a set amount of time, your character will be able to attack. Players can select skills from menus just like previous Dragon Quest titles. A battle shows four characters in a party, but it isn’t clear if this is the maximum.

On the field players can greet others with emotes. You can customize your character similar to Dragon Quest IX by selecting pieces of equipment. Chat bubbles appear over people’s heads when they talk.

You can customize characters by allocating skill points when you level up, which is based on Dragon Quest VIII.

Dragon Quest X: Awakening of the Five Tribes also has a sewing system where players can create clothes.

Dragon Quest X Also Coming To Wii U With Enhanced Graphics

Dragon Quest X: Awakening of the Five Tribes is a Wii game and a Wii U game. The Wii U version will have powered up graphics. Players in both versions will be in the same world. The game will also support USB keyboards.

Dragon Quest X may also have a Nintendo 3DS feature. Players can transfer their character data to their 3DS and meet other players via Streetpass. When you transfer data back to Wii or Wii U you’ll see the characters you met in Dragon Quest X.

Details:
- First internally developed DQ game at Square Enix
- Produced by Yosuke Saito (NIER) and directed by Jin Fujisawa (DQ8, DQ9)
- Online RPG for Wii and WiiU
- The Wii version will be released in 2012 in Japan, no date for WiiU version
- The WiiU version will have much better graphics, but the world will be the same
- The opening movie is by Square Visual Works

- The game takes place in a world with 5 continents, and 5 different races/tribes living in them
- Massive world and story that builds on the foundations of DQ9's ideas
- Visible equipment
- For those who play alone there will be NPCs who can be recruited into the party and driven by AI
- There are battle transitions, and the combat commands at menu based, but the player only controls his/her character

- The Wii game supports Wiimote+Nunchuck, Classic Controller, Classic Controller Pro, as well as USB Keyboards
- The Wii game will use both the game disc as well as USB memory storage
- There could be a feature where characters can be transferred onto the 3DS and shared with other players using Streetpass
There's a large chance of this having a subscription fee.
It actually says "Price / usage fee: TBD" on the Japanese page, so I would 100% expect a monthly fee, at least in Japan. Nintendo might help make it free in the West though, like MH Tri:
http://www.dragonquest.jp/news/detail/367/
Square Enix is readying a new large scale Massively Multiplayer Online title to be announced some time this fiscal year. The company made brief mention of this new game during its May 13 earnings briefing. A full transcript of the briefing was posted today at the company's IR page.

According to the transcript, Square Enix hopes aims to operate two to three large scale MMO titles simultaneously, a target it feels will allow it to have stable cash flow. It says that it is developing one more title in addition to Final Fantasy XIV, and it hopes to announce the game during the fiscal year.

The transcript also makes note of the problems faced by FFXIV, saying the game will take a bit more time, but they're at the point where they can see the target.

I think there's some confusion here. I notice a lot of people mentioning playing "offline" but this was not ever part of the game's announcement or presentation in the conference. They mentioned that players could play by themselves without having to rely on other players in their party, but they never mentioned that players could play offline. They could in the future, but considering the game title officially has Online in it, and the game's genre is Online RPG, I wouldn't automatically assume that. In the stage demo, they were playing with AI NPCs in the party, but the player still had to log off when he saved and quit. It seems based on the presentation and announcement that this is an always online game world of sorts, which simply does not require the player to choose a server or use friend codes or anything to play.

Jetzt nochmal bestätigt (für Japan), monatliche Gebühren:
Subscription fee is definite now:
http://support.jp.square-enix.com/faqar ... p&c=4&sc=0

Q. Besides buying the software package, will there be any other fees to play?

A. Yes, playing online requires payment of a separate fee.
